About

Gina Thayer writes speculative, slippery, and genre-bending fiction, and is currently seeking a publisher for her debut short story collection Permeable Membranes: Stories, which was a longlist honoree for the Dzanc Short Story Collection Prize, and a finalist for the 2025 Ronald Sukenick Innovative Fiction Contest at Fiction Collective 2. Gina holds an MFA in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Macalester College in St. Paul, MN. After several years in the Pacific Northwest, Gina now lives in Minneapolis with their partner and cat.

Gina is a Lead Fiction Reader for Okay Donkey Magazine and reader for The Maine Review. Gina was featured in Book Riot’s “Halloween Short Fiction: 9 Short Stories to Get You Ready for Spooky Season.”

Along with fiction, Gina holds expertise in grant writing for the arts and sciences. She loves all things horror, and when not writing, they can often be found consuming creepy content, searching for local food and drink, or sewing.
